Whenever we would read another poorly written appraisal of his work, Hunter would insist that we return to McKeen's earlier and now impossible to find "Hunter S. Thompson" (Twayne Publishers) and make me read him at least a chapter. Hunter thought that McKeen understood him better than anyone else who had dared to analyze his life and work.
Thus I look forward with great anticipation to McKeen's (who is also Professor & Chair of the Dept. of journalism, Univ of Florida) more comprehensive work about Hunter.
